Two industrial partners of the QV-LIFT consortium participated as exhibitors at the European Microwave Week 2019 (EUMW) held in Paris from 29th September to 3rd October, 2019.
The EUMW is a week-long event that provides access to the very latest products, research and initiatives in the microwave sector: Microwave, RF, Wireless and Radar. It brings industry, SMEs and academia together for conferences, workshops, trade and technology exhibits and it offers the opportunity for face to-face interaction with leading players in microwave technology.
As QV-LIFT moves into its final phase, all the building blocks of the projects’s ambitious and complex system are ready and were on show in this edition of the EUMW.
Partners presented their new products, including the Block Up Converter (BUC) designed and manufactured by ERZIA carrying on-board a V-band high power amplifier based on Gallium Nitride (GaN) Monolithic Microwave Integrated Circuits (MMIC) technology, manufactured by OMMIC.
This module is one of the key elements of the QV-LIFT project, and allows transmission of RF signals in the Q band.
This great achievement allows ERZIA to manufacture a state-of-the-art BUC in such high frequencies and also permits OMMIC to consolidate the advanced technology in the form of GaN chipsets.
During the exhibition many visitors demonstrated their interest in the design and the performances of the module.
Manuel Sigler, Sales Engineer at ERZIA Aerospace & Defence said “The EUMW was a great opportunity to show how the collaboration between highly skilled partners, financially supported by the EC, was able to generate a remarkable impact on the future use of these new frequencies in the satellite link market”.
